Happy New Year

This New Year is off to a great start and already seems to be moving quickly, at least the calendar is filling up fast.  I'm looking around at cake designs and getting inspired for Mardi Gras and Valentine's Day.  If you have a party, dinner, class or office party coming up, or you just want to order a cake for your special someone or family please let me know and I will get you booked.   Check the cake pages for more info.

Skater cake

Whew, this weekend I had a cake for a 10 year old 'skater'.  He was so cool about the design, and let me have full reign as long as it had blue and X games on it somehow.  I learned quite a bit on this one.  One issue I had was my cake mix...too moist and soft, tasted great but doesn't make for good carving.  Anyway, it took about 4 sheets of cake piled up and carved out for the 1/2 pipe.  I put in a few skewers to make sure the sides didn't move too much...dirty iced in and cooled it.  Then a lot of butter cream, a couple of hand painted fondant billboards with cardboard backing, some fondant rails and skull, and some spray paint graffiti later....this is how it came out.

Whew, I am done!  I am a little wiped out and the kitchen is in shambles but it was worth it.  Next year I will start sooner that's for sure.  Some of this was for gifts for Prince Charming's Command Staff, etc...and the rest are sweets for our Army guys pulling an all nighter tonight. After about 20 jars of homemade apple butter, 10 loaves of honey wheat bread, pineapple upside down cake, mini carrot cake bites, chocolate mocha cupcakes with peppermint/marshmallow butter cream, my fridge is full of tasty-tempting sweets!

Yum!!! Now just to keep the crew out of them until delivery.  This is probably my last post for a week.  Have a Great Christmas break everyone!  God Bless!
